Postpartum Support

Our support continues beyond the delivery room, with follow-up check-ins on mom and baby to ensure a strong start to your parenthood journey.

What You Need To Know

Obstetrics FAQs

You will need to have a referral forwarded to our office either by a family physician or urgent care clinic. Dr. Rubabaza is a sought after obstetrician and unfortunately we are only able to accommodate a specific number of patients per due date month. Have your referral sent as soon as possible to increase your likelihood of acceptance.

If you are under 20 weeks pregnant, you will need to visit the ER, however, if you are 20 weeks pregnant and above, you can go directly to labour and delivery at Lakeridge Health Ajax/Pickering.

For uncomplicated, routine care, patients will be seen every 4 weeks until 28 weeks. Bi-weekly appointments begin at 30 weeks and continue until weekly appointments begin at 37 weeks. For patients with complicated pregnancies or concurrent conditions, appointment timelines may vary.

During your initial appointment, you will meet with our clinic nurse Samantha where you will complete a comprehensive health history and any missing or needed tests will be ordered. You will then return 2-3 weeks later to meet with Dr. Rubabaza.

Their telephone number is (905) 683-2320, extension 11201.

Again, this is determined depending on each individual pregnancy and what we are monitoring. However, most routine care patients will have a dating ultrasound in early pregnancy which is followed by another at 12 weeks to complete the Enhanced First Trimester Screening. The anatomy scan is completed between 19-21 weeks and a third trimester growth scan is done between 30-32 weeks.
