Dr. Jean-Placide Rubabaza’s entire career has been dedicated to giving his patients the best care possible. His outstanding skills in obstetrics and gynecology, strong foundation in evidence-based medicine and the genuine interest he takes in his patients’ well-being make him one of the most in-demand ob/gyns in Durham. It’s also the reason he is passionate about minimally invasive solutions. Under his care, women struggling for years with gynecological issues they assumed would plague them for the rest of their lives are given options that provide hope and relief.
In addition to his clinical duties, Dr. Rubabaza is deeply involved in teaching and research. As an adjunct clinical professor at the University of Toronto and Queen’s University, he shares his expertise in minimally invasive gynecology procedures, shaping the future of the field for more than a decade.
His dedication to education extends to his colleagues, whom he supports and guides in their professional development as a mentor.
Dr. Rubabaza also plays a major role in the fight for diversity in medicine; as a founding member and former president of the Black Physicians’ Association of Ontario, he advocated for greater representation in the medical field. Thanks to his efforts, more Black students are getting their shot at medical school.
At Lakeridge Health too, Dr. Rubabaza leads the charge for a more inclusive environment. As leader of IDEAA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, Anti-Racism), his mission includes creating a culture of equity where everyone feels welcome and valued and that their voices are heard.
These ideals are evident in his approach at Evolution Women’s Wellness Centre, where patients can count on always feeling seen, heard, understood – and truly supported.
Focused on delivering quality care and individualized support.
